After you have passed your theory test and your driving is at the required standard you can apply for your practical driving test.
The test is designed to see if you can drive safely on your own without the help of your instructor.
At the beginning of the test your examiner will ask you to read a registration plate to test your eyesight, and 2 SHOW ME TELL ME questions.
During the test the examiner will give you directions which you should follow. They will also get you to perform 2 of the following exercises: reversing around a corner, reverse parking or turn in the road. You may also do an emergency stop.
Throughout the test you should drive in the way your instructor has taught you. If you make a mistake, try and carry on as it might only be a minor fault and may not affect the result of the test. You are allowed to make upto 15 minor faults and still pass, although if you commit a serious or dangerous fault you would fail. The test should take about 40 minutes and at the end of the test the examiner will tell you the result and offer you an explanation of how you did.
